the "Renter Woes" thread & a poll:

It is with substantial distaste that I delete posts, threads, or members.
( except of course when it's spam - then I have no qualms at all)

An ex-member who posted in the "Renter Woes" thread demonstrated that he was unwilling to abide by the tribe rules. So he was removed and his posts deleted.

That seems awfully harsh to me but, going over his posts there was so little of value and so much that was just plain hostile that I saw no value in leaving his posts.

At any rate his improper conduct has given me cause to ask the question about whether the tribe would like to see the tribe remain "public" or enter one of the two stages of being "moderated."

There are two levels of "moderated" tribe management short of going private ( "private" is not an option I'll contemplate).
The mod can select the operand that allows members to invite people or can restrict it further making it necessary for new members to submit a request to the mod.

Or the mod can leave it public as it now is and run the risk of little flare ups like we had in the "Renter Woes "thread.

What say you o' people of the DIY?

Leave it, I think that was the first time I've seen it soooooo drawn out. And let's face it, some people just need a, " you're a moronic, mistake of nature" once and a while.

      Leave it.

I am new to this tribe and was astounded at the levels of immaturity in the "disagreement" that started in that post. I would have made some disparaging remark there, related to said immaturity, had I not been conviced that the slinging arrows would have then been aimed at ME.

That said, we all have the ability to choose. And once I saw that the posts were on that particular thread, I just stopped reading them...

All the other posts and threads and replies, have seemed to be perfectly reasonable.

personally, I like that peoples', and *my own* words speak for themselves. and I like everyone's voices, with no deletions.

leave it up to us to read what interests us, for intellect or pleasure, and only moderate, as you seem to do Cliff, as The Moderate Voice when needed to teach rules of this tribe, or to thankfully dispense medicinal chill pills.

You did what needed to be done. It's very rare that any action needs to be taken in this tribe. Leaving it public unless it becomes an ongoing problem is a good idea.

There just aren't enough moderators that will DO what needs to be done. Tribes won't flourish if there are aggressive attacks going on, and people will eventually just stop posting. Nobody wants to have someone after them as was seen in that thread. Especially if they saw the dirty tricks going on behind the scenes.

There are tons of ways of helping a discussion. Attacking someone isn't one of the ways.

    Well, that seems pretty Unanimous.
This was a rare event to which I ought not to over react.

I wasn't reading the thread. So it took the effort of a triber to bring my attention to it.
I am glad my attention was drawn to it.

Thanks for the input. The tribe status shall remain public.
    Grazi Milli~!!
