Forget the air thing, your problem is in the pressure balancing "scald guard" device. It is either dirty or the springs are worn. If You have never taken apart a shower valve before I would call a plumber. If you have, take it apart, clean everything, re-lube the seals, and reassemble. You could also just replace it, they are cheap but you have to get the correct one for your valve. Take it with you to Lowes or the like and match it up.

does it happen with the hot or cold water lines? (just cold or just hot) does it happen with the regular faucet on the tub? Does it happen with the sink? does it happen anywhere else? is this upstairs or downstairs... do you have a basement? Chris

HAH... I KNOW this one!! It has happened to me more than once. I had a sink that was possessed for a week until I figured it out. Its the EVIL Flow restrictor that is installed to ... well restrict flow (to probably 1.5 or so GPS ) All you have to do is take apart the shower head assembly, inside it there will be a small cylinder insert , probably made of plastic. it will have a spring valve of some kind. It should be about the size of a stack of 10 dimes... remove this satanic pice of plumbing and reassemble. Enjoy a quiet full force shower... You can always control "restrict" the flow by turning down the faucet a bit.
