I love watching the birds eating the food out of the bag.....however i hate the looks of it just hanging there. Does anyone know where to buy or make something that looks nicer; like with a wooden top with a hook to hang the bag ?
Keep in mind i don't have access to a saw...
Thanks,
Linda

Re: A cute Finch feeder
Sun, April 15, 2007 - 9:20 AMWe too have the "bags", and wanted something a little more neat. Hubby found a great feeder online though I can't find his link right now. So, I'll try to describe it for you.
Solid top and bottom, middle section is a cylinder shape out of fine mesh screen. There is a post running through the middle and out the top cap and a chain for hanging off of that. The seed is put in by sliding the top op and filling the screen cylinder. A lot more finches are able to feed and it doesn't get nasty like the bags did. You could make one, but I think that he found this one online for about 25.00.
Maybe google finch feeders and see what comes up?
If you can't find it, I'll ask him if he remembers the site.

Re: A cute Finch feeder
Sun, April 15, 2007 - 3:29 PMGreat site, lots to choose from, thanks.
I stopped at Menards yesterday to get a "clean bag and maybe a small wooden bird house that I could put a hook at the bottom and instead i found several feeders ranging from $3.99 to $20.00. The bag on the site, with the flowers is listed for $9.97 at Menards the same one was $2.97. However i do like the spiral ones.
I will see if this one gets moldy quick and take a look at those!
Thanks again...
