I'm hosting a Halloween party. I'm looking for suggestions on how to make the toilet water red all night long. Probably red food coloring will be my source, but I need a delivery device that will have a constant supply for many hours.

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Sun, October 4, 2009 - 8:49 PMDan:
Not to be gross, but do you think all the ladies at your party are going to wonder if it's that time of the month for them :-)? Just kidding, but it would certainly freak me out!
The first thing that came to mind when I read your post was prision wine. But that won't give you continuous red colored water, it will only give you fermented red water with a sock floating inside your toilet with rotting fruit.
This is an interesting question,

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Sun, October 4, 2009 - 11:39 PMMost of the women I know are pretty into horror and zombie stuff, it's a horror movie themed party, so I was thinking bloody water in the bathroom would stick with the creepy but funny vibe of '80s horror movies and my friends. -

Mon, October 5, 2009 - 10:58 AMWhat about soaking a 2000-flushes type thing in red fabric dye?

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Mon, October 5, 2009 - 3:32 PMI just thought I'd add....
you might want to check whatever dye you end up using on the back of your toilet to make sure it won't permanently stain the porcelain. Someone mentioned fabric dye- I know personally that this will leave you with a pink toilet. My sink still hasn't recovered from my last dye project, and a pink toilet is no one's friend.

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Mon, October 5, 2009 - 4:36 PMHow about this?
1. use a plastic bottle with a flip lid, (not a flip spout)
2. attach a float to the flip lid
3. fill bottle with red dye #5
4.lay bottle near bottom of tank, on brick or something, with bottom of bottle slightly higher than top
5. when tank is flushed, float should drop opening flip lid, and when tank is refilled float will close flip lid
6. terrorize unsuspecting party goers
7. disclaimer: not responsible for accidents, fainting spells or unsuspecting party goers who are pushed over the edge and go on a murderous rampage.
Please let us what happens

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Mon, October 5, 2009 - 8:18 PMI like horror and Halloween myself, so yes, I'd be into the red toilet water too!
You know, does food coloring stain? I wondered if there was a way to connect the food coloring, only by a drop or so to the tube (that's about enough to look scary)? I'll have to look in my bathroom tank to see if there is a way.
I really like that, what a cool idea!

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Mon, October 5, 2009 - 8:19 PMOops, I see you already thought of the food coloring idea. Let me peek into my toilet tank and see if there is a way to make it drip from the tube for each flush.
Sorry,

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Mon, October 5, 2009 - 8:25 PMWait, I thought of part of an idea. What about one of those urinal cookies or toilet cookies type thing? Can you color something that would release color inside the bowl rather than iin the tank, like a colored piece of soap or something like that? Or has someone already said that? I'm having a bad day today. Too much going on this week.

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Tue, October 6, 2009 - 1:20 PMrandy has the most workable plan.
In addition here's what more >>
Approach a friendly local butcher or slaughterhouse and buy a) a 5Gal bucket of animal blood, & b) 5Gal of animal viscera & guts.
At home, arrange the blood & parts artistically around the bathroom, something like a scene from CSI-LasVegas, with splatters and all. Leave a tray of blood-stained surgical instruments and a chainsaw laying around suggestively.
Done cleverly, this effect is sure to have your Halloween guests totally grossed out to the point of barfing uncontrolably. Make sure to remove fuel from the chainsaw in case some drunk gets ideas. This should totally be a hit.

Tue, October 6, 2009 - 1:50 PMeek, if I saw red toilet water (again) I'd flash back to my miscarriage and lose my party mood.
hope nobody there would have the same association... hope a good time is had by all.

Ahhhh yes, a bio hazard bathroom for the holidays, and the flies are no extra cost ! Combine the smell of rotting intestines, with that of drunkards vomit...man does it get any better ?
And could clean up be any more fun ? -

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Wed, October 7, 2009 - 2:00 AMSometimes the appointed bureaucrats of city hall might come around fishing for a bribe.
Mostly they will be busy with festivities of their own, but just in case these inspectors are out in force busting apple-bobbers and distributors of unwrapped candy for health infractions, their trick-or-treat can be bought off for 1/5 of Johnny.

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Tue, October 6, 2009 - 2:59 PMIf you go to a Halloween store and buy a rubber severed head, you could put the head in the tank, leave the top of the tank on, but skewed so you can see partially into the tank. Any curious partygoers will lift the top to see what's there. The severed head may need a weight of some kind to hold it down... But it might also disguise any "blood delivery system" for you.
Oh, and the head would be in addition to all the disgusting stuff decorating the bathroom that was suggested earlier... -

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Wed, October 7, 2009 - 9:52 AMOr better yet affix some stretch wrap over the seat.
That way the drunken revelers will get a real surprise.
Oh wait that's for April Fools in the Teacher's lounge.

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 9:55 AM(OT but) that reminds me: for a halloween party a few years ago, a dear friend covered his entire bathroom, including the floors, walls, ceiling, inside of the toilet and sink, with mylar. then he made the light switch non-operational but installed a strobe light, to disorienting effect. Talk about a mess! having a seizure while peeing is fun for all!
fyi, in case you were considering...the answer is
no,
don't

Re: Halloween - wanted: red toilet water
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 9:45 AMI didn't do the red water because I ended up replacing the toilet the week before and was hesitant of staining the brand new dual flush water saver one. I know, too timid! I did do a couple LED kits to making blinking eyes in rubber rats, a Cyclon pumpkin, and there were copious amounts of limbs, fake blood, smoke, flashing lights, etc. All and all pretty awesome. -
